How to get rid of dry skin: Home Remedies

Dry skin is a condition that most people face, especially during winter. The primary reason for the dryness of the skin is due to environmental changes. Dry skin becomes much more common with age.

Dry is generally caused by the environment, frequently washing hands, inadequate hydration, swimming in a chlorinated pool, or jobs that are rough on the hands such as mechanics or farming.

There are a range of home remedies for dry skin available, including coconut and other oils, oatmeal, and honey. Check here the home remedies given below:

How to get rid of dry skin:

Use moisturizers:

Apply moisturizer immediately after bathing or after washing your hands. This helps plug the spaces between your skin cells and seal in moisture while your skin is still damp.

Use Sunscreen:

Use sunscreen in the winter as well as the summer to prevent photoaging.

Choose mild soap:

During winter, consider mild soaps that are gentle on the skin and don’t strip away essential oils. Steer clear of deodorant soaps, perfumed soaps, and alcohol products, which can strip away natural oils.

Bathe with warm water:

A warm shower during cold weather can feel great, but hot water can irritate the skin and strip away natural moisture. Use lukewarm water rather than hot water, which can wash away natural oils.

Limit your bathing time:

Limit yourself to a 5- to 10-minute bath or shower daily. If you bathe more than that, you may strip away much of the skin's oily layer and cause it to lose moisture.

Coconut oil:

You can use coconut oil daily on even the most sensitive parts of your body. These include the area underneath your eyes and around your mouth.

Halt the hand sanitizer:

Hand sanitizer contains alcohol, which can dry your skin. If you don’t work in a health care field, basic hand washing is probably good enough for you.

Use a humidifier:

Keeping a humidifier in your home can help minimize the dryness caused by home heating systems. Though gas and electric heat strip moisture from the air, a humidifier set to 60 percent is enough to offset this effect.
